The VNSC organises annually about 40 club regattas. Most of the regattas consist of three races of about 40 minutes on a Sunday afternoon, usually sailed around an olympic triangle course. There are also some long-distance races, whicle 6 times a year we race around Bulunguwe Island, once clockwise and once counterclockwise. The most prestigious event is the Uganda Laser Open, sailed once a year early March over a period of three days and ten races.
Most of the regattas are sailed for a trophy, many of them having a long history in the club, and some going as far back as the 1940s and 50s. Trophies can be won on boat handicap (based on boat class and sail size) and on personal handicap (based on your personal club handicap).
All results of all races are calculated and kept by the sailing secretary, and form the basis for calculating the semi-annual series, the most improved sailor, and are used to update your persdonal handicap.
You can search for the winners of any regatta sailed since 1990 by entering your search item in the drop down boxes at the bottom of the website.
